“Our mentoring supports teenagers who feel anxious, low in confidence, or emotionally overwhelmed — and the parents doing their best to support them. Through calm, personal sessions, we build resilience, self-belief, and practical tools. Each session is tailored to help young people get back on track and, from there, begin to flourish.”
Toby’s story
With over thirty years of experience in education — including roles as a teacher, Housemaster, Head of Year, and in Safeguarding — I have supported hundreds of teenagers and families through the emotional highs and lows of adolescence. Before working in education, I was a professional sportsman. That experience gave me a deep understanding of pressure, performance, and resilience — and just as importantly, how to cope with setbacks, loss, and disappointment. These experiences shaped not only my approach to mentoring and support, but also my belief in the power of connection, trust, and consistency.
Throughout my career, I have seen how complex and emotionally demanding the teenage years can be — not just for young people, but also for the parents and carers trying to support them. Teenagers are not deliberately difficult — they are young people navigating new feelings, big changes, and a world that often misunderstands them. When they feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unheard, what they need most is someone who listens with empathy, understands what is underneath the behaviour, and offers calm, practical support.
At Connected Minds, we specialise in mentoring young people who are experiencing anxiety, low confidence, emotional stress, or disconnection. We help them build the tools they need to manage anxiety, strengthen resilience, and develop a clearer sense of who they are.
We also work closely with parents — especially those who feel shut out, frustrated, or unsure of how to help their child. Our relationship-focused approach creates space for honest conversations, stronger communication, and the kind of family connection that helps everyone feel more secure and understood.
This is what Connected Minds is all about — understanding, supporting, and empowering teenagers and families when they need it most.
